Kachemak Bay State Park - Homer Alaska
Kachemak Bay State Park is a glacier capped coastal mountain range providing fantastic hiking and wildlife viewing opportunities. A short water taxi across the bay puts you at the base of some of the most pristine and secluded hiking and wilderness trials in Alaska. Wildlife is abundant in this vast wilderness with mountain goats, moose, sea birds, waterfowl, black bear and wolves inhabiting coastline, ridges and valleys of this amazing state park. You can also take a cruise around the nesting sea bird rookeries to the historic fishing community of Halibut Cove. This former herring saltry is now home to local artists, boardwalks and the Saltry Restaurant. We recommend you carry a daypack with sun tan lotion, camera, binocular, light rain gear, snacks, bottled water, gloves, hat and first aid kit.
